Optimisation of people towards a common goal.
"Working in education is hard and for the vast majority of us, we do it because we believe in young people and want to equip them in the best possible way for the future. In order to do this we must not only educate, but also nurture, support, understand, empathise and listen to them. We teach young people to be resilient, to learn from experiences, to care for each other, to be determined to do their best and to listen to advice in order to achieve this. Strangely enough though, we don't always follow this advice for ourselves. We might think that we do, but the reality can be quite different. As an ex-headteacher myself, with experience of working in very difficult circumstances, I know that it's the people that you work with who are capable of having the biggest impact on the success of your school, so it's vital to support them effectively."

Key Principles
-
The mental health of the children is really important. Therefore, so is the mental health of the staff as they are the ones who will support the children.
-
Taking responsibility for your own mental health and listening and providing support for your team leads to more effective performance by all.
-
The wellbeing and mental health of all staff, regardless of position is of equal importance.
-
Sustainable culture and strategy around mental health leads in turn to sustained school improvement
-
A modest investment in your staff can lead to significant results. This is because steady, incremental change is better than grand gestures.
-
It's important to challenge what you think you know. It is also better to know how people feel than not find out, so that you can do something about it.
What are we trying to achieve?
1
Support
To support school leaders in order to enable them to function well and do a good job, by helping to protect their wellbeing and giving them the space to express themselves to a trusted partner. This enables them to be the best version of themselves they can be.
Educate
To educate staff and governors of the importance of a proper wellbeing and mental health strategy in their schools that helps identify when things are and aren't right and is proactive at putting things right and supporting staff.

3
Empower
To empower those who work in schools to do the best job they can. We also work with less experienced staff, enabling them to build the resilience and grounding they need to have a sustainable, enjoyable and viable career journey.
